What's Inside

Ingredients

The bark contains saponins, tannins, etc. The seeds contain albiziiin and S-(2-carboxyethyl)-L-cysteine and other amino acids. Fresh leaves contain vitamin C. The bark of the related species Albizia chinensis contains triterpenoid saponins, called the silktree oxytocic substance (He Huan Cui Chan Su).

Therapeutic Effects

In in-vitro experiments, the silktree oxytocic substance (He Huan Cui Chan Su) can cause contraction of the quiescent uterus of guinea pigs or humans; whereas when the uterus has spontaneous activity, it can enhance its contractile force or frequency; on the isolated small intestine of guinea pigs, even at high concentrations it does not cause contraction.
