Rosewood

This herb mainly contains volatile oil and isoflavones; the principal volatile oil component is nerolidol, etc.; the principal isoflavone components are odoratin, dalbergin, etc. This herb also contains flavonoids, isoflavone dimer derivatives, benzofuran derivatives, etc.

This herb lowers whole-blood viscosity in blood-stasis-model animals, also lowers plasma viscosity and inhibits platelet aggregation; it promotes the recovery of blood flow in experimental microcirculation disorder in mice, with a strong effect against epinephrine-induced arteriolar constriction. In addition, this herb has sedative, anticonvulsant, analgesic, and gallbladder-contraction-inhibiting effects.
