Mainly contains tetracyclic triterpenoid saponin active components, the principal one being notoginsenoside. It also contains the hemostatic effective component dencichine, volatile oil, sterols, and saccharides, etc.

Therapeutic Effects

This herb has a marked hemostatic effect, shortening the bleeding and coagulation time and prothrombin time in animals; it also has a marked anticoagulant effect, inhibiting platelet aggregation, promoting fibrinolysis, and lowering whole-blood viscosity.
