Lychee Seed

This drug mainly contains fatty oil, whose principal components are oleic acid and palmitic acid, etc.; it also contains protein, reducing sugars, saponins, tannins and amino acids, etc.

The dry extract, or the aqueous and alcoholic extracts, of this drug lower blood glucose in animals with experimental diabetes, similar to the action of biguanide hypoglycemic drugs. It regulates disorders of endogenous and exogenous blood lipid metabolism, has antioxidant activity, and also has liver-protecting and anti-hepatitis B virus effects
