Sandalwood

This drug mainly contains volatile oil, whose principal components are α-santalol and β-santalol, and it also contains santalene, santalenone, etc.

This drug has a negative inotropic effect on the isolated frog heart and antagonizes the arrhythmia caused by Sini Decoction and Acanthopanax poisoning. The α-santalol and β-santalol it contains have fairly strong antibacterial effects.
