Contains volatile oil; its chemical components include atractylol and atractylon, and it also contains vitamin A.

1. Effect on gastrointestinal motility: a large dose of white atractylodes decoction can promote gastrointestinal motility in mice. A smaller dose has a relatively mild inhibitory effect on the contraction of isolated guinea pig ileum smooth muscle, while a larger dose can strengthen ileal smooth muscle contraction. 2. Inhibitory effect on uterine smooth muscle: the alcohol extract and petroleum ether extract of white atractylodes markedly inhibit the spontaneous contraction of the isolated uterus of non-pregnant mice and the excited uterine contraction induced by oxytocin and motherwort, and the effect increases with increasing drug concentration. 3. Anti-ageing effect: white atractylodes decoction can increase the activity of whole blood glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in mice and has a certain anti-ageing effect.
