Contains volatile oil mainly cinnamaldehyde and cinnamic acid, small amounts of cinnamyl acetate, mucilage, tannins and resins

Therapeutic Effects

Antipyretic; antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus, typhoid bacillus and fungi; cinnamaldehyde shows sedative, analgesic and antitumor effects; cinnamon oil antitussive, diuretic and cardiotonic

Precautions

Contraindicated in warm febrile diseases, yin deficiency with excess yang, blood heat, or heavy menstrual bleeding
