Therapeutic Effects

Volatile oils promote sweating and antipyretic effects. Ephedrine and pseudoephedrine relieve bronchial smooth muscle spasm; also exhibits anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral effects

Precautions

Use cautiously in patients with spontaneous sweating due to exterior deficiency, night sweating from Yin deficiency, or deficiency-type asthma due to Kidney failing to grasp Qi. Avoid overdose. Nodes and surface foam must be removed during decoction to prevent chest oppression
