Ingredients

It mainly contains various flavonoids, which upon hydrolysis yield isoorientin, dianthogenin, alkaloids, phosphoric acid and vitamin A-like substances, etc.

Therapeutic Effects

The decoction has a diuretic effect and increases urinary sodium chloride excretion. It also stimulates intestinal and uterine smooth muscle, inhibits cardiac activity, lowers blood pressure, and has schistosomicidal activity. In addition, it inhibits Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhi, Shigella flexneri, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
