This product mainly contains various glycosides, the most important of which are the cardiac glycosides periplocin and periplocoside. In addition, it also contains 4-methoxysalicylaldehyde, glucoside, amyrin, β-amyrin, α-amyrin, their acetates, β-amyrin acetate and β-sitosterol, etc.

Therapeutic Effects

The alcoholic extract has cardiotonic and blood-pressure-raising effects. It also has anti-inflammatory, nervous-system-stimulant, and antitumor effects.
