Tiejiao Weilingxian, Nengxiao, Lingxian, Heijiao Weilingxian, Heigutou
Warm, pungent, salty, slightly bitter
The root of Clematis chinensis contains protoanemonin and saponins whose aglycones are hederagenin, epihederagenin and oleanolic acid.
1. Analgesic effect: Hot-plate testing shows that intraperitoneal injection of Weilingxian decoction at 2.5 g/kg increases the pain threshold in mice. The wine-processed product has a stronger and longer-lasting analgesic effect. 2. Choleretic effect: Oral administration of 100% Weilingxian decoction or 200% alcoholic extract at 3–4 mL/kg promotes bile secretion in rats. Intravenous administration of 200% alcoholic extract at 0.5–1 mL/kg rapidly promotes bile secretion in anesthetized dogs and relaxes the sphincter at the end of the common bile duct, facilitating bile flow.
