Hematite

Mainly contains ferric oxide (Fe2O3), of which iron is 70% and oxygen 30%; sometimes contains impurities titanium, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, and moisture. Besides a large amount of iron, this product also contains equivalent silicic acid and molybdenum compounds, and small amounts of magnesium, manganese, and calcium.

This product has a sedative effect on the central nervous system. The iron it contains promotes regeneration of red blood cells and hemoglobin. It inhibits the isolated frog heart. After oral administration this product astringes the gastric and intestinal walls, protects the mucosa, and can excite the intestinal canal, making intestinal peristalsis hyperactive. The magnesium salts and magnesium ions it contains have a bulk laxative effect.
