What's Inside

Ingredients

The whole plant contains flavonoid glycosides, coumarin, triterpenes (or steroids), amino acids, organic acids and volatile oil (containing borneol).

Therapeutic Effects

Hepatoprotective effect: Intraperitoneal injection of blumeatin can reduce serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and hepatic triglyceride levels in rats with carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver injury, while increasing serum triglycerides, β-lipoproteins, and hepatic glycogen and reducing histopathological liver damage. It can also reduce serum ALT and hepatic triglyceride levels in mice with thioacetamide-induced toxicity and shorten sodium pentobarbital sleeping time in CCl4-intoxicated mice. In vitro, blumeatin inhibits lipid peroxidation and protects primary cultured rhesus monkey hepatocytes from injury induced by CCl4 or FeSO4-cysteine.
