Ingredients

The leaves contain herniarin, bergapten, meso-inositol, rutin, β-sitosterol, taraxeryl acetate, β-amyrin acetate and tocopherol compounds.

Therapeutic Effects

Antimicrobial susceptibility testing using the disk diffusion method showed that, among Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Proteus species, the aqueous extract of Bili had a marked inhibitory effect on E. coli, while the ethanolic extract had a relatively strong inhibitory effect on B. subtilis. Neither the aqueous nor ethanolic extract inhibited fungi such as brewer’s yeast, Penicillium citrinum, or Aspergillus niger.
