This product mainly contains clerodendrin, clerodendronin A, clerodendronin B, meso-inositol, alkaloids and acacetin-7-diglucuronide, etc.

1. Hypotensive effect: Chouwutong lowers blood pressure in anesthetized and unanesthetized rats, rabbits, cats, and dogs, as well as in rats and dogs with renal hypertension. 2. Other effects: Oral or intraperitoneal administration of Haizhou Changshan decoction produces mild sedation in mice, but even increased doses do not induce sleep. It also has some analgesic effect. Clerodendrin A has a marked sedative effect and clerodendrin B a marked analgesic effect, although neither is considered the principal hypotensive constituent of the original plant.
