This product mainly contains alkaloids such as N-methylisopelletierine, sarmentosine, carbohydrates, amino acids, flavonoids, triterpenes and phytosterols, etc.

Therapeutic Effects

This herb has antibacterial activity, with relatively strong inhibition of Staphylococcus albus and somewhat weaker inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus. It also inhibits Escherichia coli, Salmonella Typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, streptococci, Candida albicans, and Shigella flexneri. It also has hepatoprotective effects and may reduce elevated liver enzyme levels.
