Giant Knotweed Rhizome

This product mainly contains anthraquinone compounds (emodin, chrysophanol, rhein and physcion, etc.) and phenolic components (6-hydroxyaloe-emodin and emodin-8-monomethyl ether, etc.), etc.

The decoction has antibacterial activity in vitro and inhibits various viruses. Its anthraquinones have marked hypotensive and heart-rate-lowering effects. Polydatin has lipid-lowering, hepatoprotective, and capillary-dilating effects; it can also increase stroke volume and pulse pressure, which may be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of shock, and can inhibit platelet aggregation and thromboxane B₂ production. Resveratrol strongly inhibits Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton interdigitale, fungi associated with stubborn ringworm and tinea versicolor-like lesions. It also has antitumor, blood-glucose-lowering, sedative, hemostatic, diuretic, and leukocyte-increasing effects.
