What's Inside

Ingredients

Lemon peel contains flavonoid glycosides such as hesperidin, naringin, eriocitrin, eriodictyol glucoside, 6-methoxycitrusin 3-beta-D-glucoside, iso-6-methoxycitrusin 3-beta-D-glucoside, and limocitrin 3-beta-D-glucoside, as well as organic acids such as citric acid, malic acid, and quinic acid. Lemon peel also contains various flavonoids, organic acids, coumarins, sterols, and volatile oil.

Therapeutic Effects

1. Anti-inflammatory effect: naringin, like other flavonoids, has an anti-inflammatory effect. Intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg into mice can alleviate formalin-induced swelling of the ankle. 2. Other effects: naringin has a protective effect on viral infection in mice. In mice suffering from this condition the succinate dehydrogenase activity in the supernatant of spleen homogenate was higher than in normal mice; naringin had no effect on this increase, but in test tubes it could reduce the activity of this enzyme in the spleen of normal mice.
