What's Inside

Ingredients

The whole plant contains volatile oil: camphor, sabinene, β-bourbonene, alloaromadendrene and β-elemene, etc.

Therapeutic Effects

1. Antibacterial effect: This herb inhibits hemolytic staphylococci, hemolytic streptococci, Shigella, and Escherichia coli. Its aqueous decoction also inhibits Leptospira. 2. Anti-inflammatory effect: Alcohol-precipitated preparations of Wulianmei aqueous decoction and alcoholic extracts show varying degrees of inhibitory effects in different inflammation models. They inhibit inflammatory processes characterized by exudation and granulation-tissue proliferation, and the anti-inflammatory effect appears not to be significantly related to the pituitary-adrenal system. 3. Antithrombotic effect: Wulianmei markedly inhibits in vitro thrombus formation and platelet adhesion and significantly suppresses ADP- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation in rats. 4. Immune effects: It enhances cellular immunity and increases the phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages. 5. Antipyretic effect: Wulianmei reduces fever in rabbits induced by subcutaneous injection of pneumococci and Haemophilus influenzae.
