Therapeutic Effects

1. Antitumor effect: The active constituents of Xihuangcao, including xihuangcaosu A and rabdoserrin A, exhibit anticancer activity and significantly inhibit human cervical cancer HeLa cells. 2. Anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective effects: An aqueous extract of Xihuangcao inhibits xylene-induced ear inflammation in mice, reduces the elevation of ALT caused by CCl₄-induced liver injury, and counteracts acetic-acid-induced increases in peritoneal capillary permeability, indicating anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activity. 3. Free-radical-scavenging effect: Flavonoids in Xihuangcao can scavenge hydroxyl radicals and oxygen free radicals.
