Ingredients

Baijiezi contains sinalbin, sinapine, myrosinase, fat, protein, and mucilage, and also contains 4-hydroxybenzoylcholine and 4-hydroxybenzylamine.

Therapeutic Effects

Baijiezi has an irritant action: when sinalbin meets water it is acted upon by myrosinase to produce a volatile oil whose main component is allyl isothiocyanate, which has a pungent, acrid odor and an irritant action. Applied to the skin it produces a warming sensation and reddening, even causing blisters and pustules. Baijiezi also has anti-lipid-peroxidation, expectorant, and blood-pressure-regulating effects.
