The semi-dried tuber contains sucrose, reducing sugar, starch, saponins, and tannins, and also contains diosbulbin B, diosbulbin C, and diosgenin. The wild one contains diosbulbin A, diosbulbin B, and diosbulbin C.

Therapeutic Effects

Can directly inhibit the myocardium; has an inhibitory effect on the isolated intestine, while producing tonic and rhythmic contractions of the uterus. The water decoction inhibits Staphylococcus aureus and various dermatophytes. It has an inhibitory effect on tumor cells.
