What's Inside

Ingredients

Leaves contain alkaloids, volatile oil, and phenols. Fresh leaves contain 0.7% oil, whose chemical constituents are linalool, methyl eugenol, and phenylethanol. Roots and stem bark contain michelalbine, oxomichelalbine, magnoflorine, and micheliamine.

Therapeutic Effects

Using its distillate (1:4) in animal experiments, the antitussive (ammonia-induced cough method), expectorant (phenol red method), and anti-asthma (histamine-induced asthma) effects are all weak; adding Gewang and Dilong to make a compound formula can improve the therapeutic effect.
