Peking Euphorbia Root

It contains euphornin, euphorbia A, euphorbia B and euphorbia C, etc., and also contains resin and alkaloids. The fresh leaves are rich in vitamin C.

This substance stimulates the intestines and enhances intestinal peristalsis, producing a purgative effect. Its extract dilates peripheral blood vessels and can antagonize the pressor effect of epinephrine. The alcoholic extract has a stimulatory effect on the isolated pregnant uterus.
