What's Inside

Ingredients

The ice-water extract of the purple inflorescence contains beta-cyanins, gomphrenin I and gomphrenin II, and five hydroxy-aroylated derivatives of gomphrenin I or II; those with determined structures are gomphrenin III, gomphrenin V, and gomphrenin IV.

Therapeutic Effects

1. Animal tests with the aqueous solution (25%) of Qianrihong inflorescence and the ethanol cold-soak extract solution showed that both solutions have effects in the mouse phenol-red expectorant test and the guinea-pig histamine anti-asthma test. 2. The compound Qianrihong syrup and tablets treated over 1200 cases of chronic tracheitis, with good efficacy on cough, phlegm, and wheezing, and an effective rate of 83%-96%. 3. Its saponin and flavonoid components can expectorate and have an anti-asthma effect. 4. Animal tests proved that the extracts containing volatile oil, total flavonoids, and saponin components from the whole plant without inflorescence all have an expectorant effect.
