What's Inside

Ingredients

This product is a crystal obtained from the resin and volatile oil of Dryobalanops aromatica; it is nearly pure dextrorotatory borneol. The resin and volatile oil of Dryobalanops aromatica contain various terpenoid constituents. In addition to borneol, it also contains various sesquiterpenes and triterpenes.

Therapeutic Effects

Local application of this product mildly stimulates sensory nerves and has certain analgesic and mild antiseptic effects. It can rapidly pass through and improve the permeability of the blood-brain barrier, and accumulates in the brain for a long time at high concentration, providing preliminary experimental evidence for the aromatic orifice-opening effect of borneol. Borneol has bacteriostatic and anti-inflammatory effects. It also prolongs the hypoxia-tolerant time in mice and counteracts myocardial ischemia. It has an abortifacient effect in mid- and late-pregnancy mice and promotes the division and growth of glial cells.
