Divaricate Strophanthus Seed

Contains divaricoside, sinoside, D-strophanthin I, D-strophanthin II, D-strophanthin III, etc.

1. Action on the heart: Divaricate Strophanthus mixed glycosides strengthen the heart contraction of cold- and warm-blooded animals, slow the heart rate, and cause conduction block; they have a therapeutic effect on heart failure caused by chloral hydrate, pentobarbital sodium, sodium cyanide, dinitrophenol, etc., not only strengthening myocardial contractility but also increasing output and lowering venous pressure; ineffective against exhaustion caused by iodoacetic acid.

2. Other actions: Divaricate Strophanthus mixed glycosides have a slight sedative action and a diuretic effect in anesthetized dogs and normal rats.
