Realgar

Mainly arsenic sulfide AsS, also containing small amounts of other heavy metal salts.

1. Antibacterial effect: Aqueous extract of realgar (1:2) has varying degrees of inhibition against various dermatophytes in test tubes.

2. Antischistosomal effect: Mice infected with Schistosoma japonicum cercariae were fed a realgar, betel nut, asafoetida, and cassia bark mixture at 0.2 mL/20 g starting 3 days before infection and continuing for 12 days after infection; adult worm reduction rate reached 75.27%, worm-free rate 14.29%, and female-worm-free rate 42.86%.
