Ingredients

It mainly contains alkaloids, the principal components of which are corydaline, tetrahydropalmatine, protopine and corybulbine. It also contains starch, volatile oil, resin and so on.

Therapeutic Effects

All preparations have a marked analgesic effect. The alcohol extract can markedly dilate the coronary vessels, reduce coronary resistance and increase blood flow, and is effective against certain experimental arrhythmias. Tetrahydropalmatine has sedative and hypnotic effects. It can also lower the gastric acid and pepsin content of experimental animals and reduce gastric juice secretion.
