Ingredients

The roots contain about 0.93% alkaloids, including 0.52% matrine, 0.35% oxymatrine, and trace amounts of anagyrine and N-methylcytisine. They also contain flavonoids such as sophoraflavanone, kurarinone, and kuraridin.

Therapeutic Effects

The infusion of this product has anticancer activity, and its aqueous extract can inhibit delayed-type hypersensitivity. Its total alkaloids can increase myocardial contractility and significantly increase coronary blood flow; matrine and oxymatrine can raise peripheral leukocyte counts in rabbits; and the total alkaloids of Sophora flavescens inhibit tubercle bacilli, Vibrio cholerae, and pathogenic skin fungi. In addition, it also has anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective effects.

Precautions

Overdose may easily cause vomiting, diarrhea, chest oppression, and other adverse effects; attention should be paid to dosage.
