Ingredients

This product contains flavonoids, the principal constituents being carthamidin, isocarthamidin, scutellarein, scutellarin, and related compounds. It also contains alkaloids, polysaccharides, β-sitosterol, stearic acid, and other constituents.

Therapeutic Effects

In screening tests using the methylene blue tube method, it showed very slight inhibition of blood cells from acute granulocytic leukemia; in screening tests using the cell respirometer method, the inhibitory rate against leukemic blood cells was greater than 75%. Crystals obtained from the infusion after ethanol extraction had a diuretic effect in animals. The decoction inhibited Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella flexneri, typhoid bacilli, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in vitro.

Precautions

Use with caution in patients with blood deficiency and during pregnancy.
