Ingredients

The leaves contain water-insoluble flavonoids, water-soluble flavonoid glycosides, tannins, free polyphenols, organic acids, amino acids, and other constituents, but no alkaloids.

Therapeutic Effects

Oral liquid prepared from Melastoma candidum inhibits dysentery bacilli and E. coli in vitro; it markedly suppresses the peristalsis of isolated rabbit intestine; and it inhibits diarrhea in mice induced by castor oil and senna leaves.

Precautions

Use with caution during pregnancy.
