It can shorten clotting time, promote bile secretion, and has diuretic and hypoglycemic effects. It can inhibit neural stress responses and reduce skeletal muscle excitability. At low doses, it can increase heart rate and coronary blood flow; at high doses, it shows inhibitory effects and coronary blood flow is reduced instead. In addition, it can accelerate the healing of bone defects.

Use with caution in cases of yang deficiency with cold syndrome, deficiency-cold of the spleen and stomach, blood deficiency, or fever due to yin deficiency.
