Ingredients

It contains indigo, indirubin, indigotin-related compounds B, C, and D, and also plant proteins, resinous substances, glucosinolates, and various amino acids.

Therapeutic Effects

1. Antibacterial effect: Banlangen acts against a variety of bacteria; its aqueous infusion inhibits Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, typhoid bacilli, dysentery bacilli, enteritis bacilli, and others. 2. Anti-leptospiral effect: Banlangen or Daqingye can kill Leptospira in vitro. 3. Detoxifying effect: According to reports, administration of Banlangen, coptis powder, and Veratrum to dogs can counteract Veratrum toxicity and reduce mortality; however, it is ineffective if given only after Veratrum poisoning has occurred.

Precautions

Avoid use in patients with deficiency-cold of the spleen and stomach who do not have excess fire or heat toxin.
