Ingredients

The whole herb contains alkaloids, flavonoid glycosides, saponins, and amino acids. The principal alkaloids are lobeline, lobelanidine, lobelanine, isolobelanidine, and related compounds. It also contains flavonoid glycosides, fumaric acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and other organic acids, amino acids, saponins, glucose, and other constituents.

Therapeutic Effects

The decoction of this product and fumaric acid have anti-snake venom effects. Its infusion has a sustained and marked hypotensive effect. The infusion or total alkaloids of Lobelia chinensis have a pronounced diuretic effect. Inhalation of lobeline can dilate the bronchi. In addition, it has choleretic and antibacterial effects.

Precautions

Contraindicated in edema due to deficiency syndromes.
