What's Inside

Ingredients

The roots contain about 9% saponins; upon hydrolysis they yield triterpene aglycones, glucose, rhamnose, and one unknown sugar. They also contain anemonin, daucosterol, and other constituents.

Therapeutic Effects

The decoction and saponins of this product can significantly inhibit the growth of amoebae. Fresh juice, decoction, and ethanol extract all inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, dysentery bacilli, typhoid bacilli, and others. It also inhibits or kills Trichomonas vaginalis and has anti-influenza-virus effects. The alcoholic extract also has sedative and analgesic effects.

Precautions

Use with caution in patients with diarrhea or dysentery due to deficiency-cold.
