The leaves and stems of Clerodendrum bungei contain organic acids such as succinic acid, anisic acid, and vanillic acid; they also contain magnesium lactate, potassium nitrate, maltol, suberone, taraxerol, and clerosterol. The stems contain diterpenes, including bungein A and bungein B. The whole herb contains clerosterol, α-amyrin, and clerodone.
