Ingredients

This product contains flavonoids, the principal constituents being baicalin, baicalein, wogonoside, wogonin, skullcapflavone I, skullcapflavone II, oroxylin A, and campesterol.

Therapeutic Effects

It has inhibitory effects on Shigella, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus; the decoction used as a laryngeal spray is also effective in carriers of meningococci. Even Staphylococcus aureus strains resistant to penicillin and other antibiotics remain sensitive to Scutellaria baicalensis. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antipyretic, anti-platelet aggregation, anticoagulant, lipid-lowering, hepatoprotective, choleretic, antioxidant, anticancer, and diuretic effects.
