Wild Buckwheat Rhizome

It contains fagopyrin-related glycosides; upon alkaline hydrolysis, this glycoside yields p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, and glucose. It also contains dimeric procyanidin aglycones, which are the main active constituents.

Although this product shows no obvious antibacterial activity in vitro, it can antagonize the coagulase and hemolysin of Staphylococcus aureus as well as the endotoxin of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also has expectorant, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor effects.

Use with caution during menstruation.
