Ingredients

The outer layer of the seed contains bassorin; the pericarp contains galactose and pentoses, mainly arabinose. The seed coat contains pentosan and mucilage; the mucilage belongs to the pectic acid type and is composed of galacturonic acid, arabinose, galactose acetate, calcium, and magnesium; ash is also present. It further contains the active constituent sterculin; the outer endosperm contains green volatile oil, bassorin, astringent substances, and other constituents.

Therapeutic Effects

The seed infusion of this product has a mild laxative effect. It also has diuretic and hypotensive effects.

Precautions

Use with caution in patients with deficiency-cold of the spleen and stomach accompanied by diarrhea.
