Rumex root tincture shows a certain inhibitory effect in vitro against a variety of pathogenic fungi. After the root decoction was brought into direct contact with influenza A virus of Asian strain in vitro and then inoculated into chick embryos, it showed a preventive effect against infection. The alcohol extract obtained from the concentrated root decoction inhibits blood-cell dehydrogenase in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute monocytic leukemia, and acute granulocytic leukemia (methylene blue decolorization test in vitro), and also exerts a certain inhibitory effect on leukocyte respiration in the first two types (Warburg respirometer method).
